Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park

Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park is situated near the town of Molem in sanguem taluka. The total area of this Sanctuary is 240 sq kms.

This sanctuary consists of pristine vegetation such as West Coast tropical Evergreen forest, West Coast Semi-Ever Green forests and Moists Deciduos Forests.

Wild mammals seen in this Sanctuary are barking deer, bengal tiger, Leopard, bonnet macaque, common langur, civet, flying squirrel, gaur, malabar giant squirrel, mouse deer, pangolin, porcupine, slender loris, sambar, spotted deer, wild boar and wild dog.

This Sanctuary is also good for Bird Watching for popular birds such as  Drongo, Emerald dove, Fairy bluebird, Golden oriole, Great Indian hornbill, Indian black woodpecker, Malabar grey hornbill, Malabar pied hornbill, Grey-headed myna, Grey jungle fowl, Large green barbet, Paradise flycatcher, Racket-tailed drongo, Ruby-throated yellow bulbul (the Goa state bird), Shrikes, Three-toed kingfisher, Sri Lanka Frogmouth, Wagtails.

Snakes found here are king cobra, Bronzeback Tree Snake, cat snake, hump-nosed pit viper, Indian rock python, Malabar pit viper, rat snake, Russell’s viper, Indian cobra and common krait,

Other attractions inside this Sanctuary are Shiv Temple of Lord Mahadev, Dudhsagar falls ,Tambdi falls, Devils canyon and Sunset point.

Entry permit is required to enter the park.which can be taken from the Range Forest Officer.
